Ready, Set, Go!

• Looking to get your driver’s license? According to MTO, you must be at least 16 years or older to acquire a license for manual or automatic vehicles. You can start the process of getting your G! license by registering for manual or automatic driving lessons.Manual license holders are permitted to drive both manual and automatic cars.
  Automatic license holders can only drive automatic transmission cars.

• Doesn’t matter if you have any experience behind the wheel or not, our 30-hour course will catch you up on all the basics and leave you prepared to ace your driving test.
• Drivers from foreign countries, students, visitors, and new residents looking to acquire an Ontario driving license can do so by training under our MTO-approved instructors.
• Depending on your driving experience, you can directly apply for a G2 or G class license.

Requirements 

Following legal documents and requirements must be fulfilled to apply for a driving license in Ontario:

• Proof of identification (must show your legal name, date of birth, and signature). Documents must be original and valid, expired documents will not be accepted. Any of the following legal documents can be presented as proof of identification:

• • Passport
  • Canadian Citizen Card (with photo)
  • Temporary Immigration Documents
  • Permanent Immigration Documents
• Pass a vision test (wear contacts or glasses if needed)
• Medical Fitness Report/Known Medical Conditions
• Fee of application

The Road to Getting Your License

You must own a class G license to drive a car, van, or truck on the streets of Ontario. If you wish to acquire a license for any other type of vehicle, you must first clear your class G license test, except for motorcycles, which require a class M license.

Getting a class G license can take a minimum of 20 months and a maximum of 5 years. The journey begins by taking the G1 knowledge/written test and getting your level one (G1) license. This test does not require you to get behind the wheel, it is a knowledge-based written test. Level one takes 12 months to complete, however, you can complete level one in eight months if you passed an MTO-approved course.

After clearing level one, you can take the level two test and become a G2 license holder. This takes 12 months to complete and upon completion, you get to enjoy more road privileges. After the completion of level two, you can take your road test and get your full class G license upon passing.
